Rain is a spectacular thing. We are still in a massive drought in Texas, but last summer was (so far) much worse. We had several days of storms this month, and everything is growing in lush and proud. The plum tree is dropping fruit like crazy, and I have to make some plum preserves while there’s time. We’re getting about six eggs a day, which should double in a month or so when the pullets start laying. The pumpkin vines in the front yard are HUGE, the corn stalks have ears, the cherry tomatoes have green fruit, the cucumbers are climbing…now all I need are the melon to come along.
I have saved seed from the winter spinach, radish, and romaine. All there is left to collect seed from is the red leaf.
